Masquerading Avenues

Masquerading Avenues

Winds of discontentment
Blue on songs of disrepair
As clouds slept nestled on the ground
Too heavy for the air

Emerald eyes once spirited
Now glisten former rain
Sating need to masquerade
Discomfort over pain

Drops divesting of the load
A heart weighs on the mind
Rain my creativity
To stream along and find

My refuge among avenues
You’ve strolled inside of me
Our walks outside reality
Take Ether’s reverie

I find the Field of Certainties
Where hope is growing strong
And Tiger lilies chase their tails
So fun can tag along

A laughing cloud begins to storm
So now my troubled sky
Hears just how ridiculous
I sound when I ask, 'Why? '

Floral vendors beating streets
Who peddle verve's intrigue
Proclaim of growing flowers
That will poison my fatigue

Once inquired of the cost
Our bartering begins
Hence the Wiser Miser says;
'Much more than sorrow's grins'

I tell him, 'Name your funny price'
Thus offers from the past
Pennies I thought if were pinched
Forever they would last

I talk it over with my Muse
Who smirks to let me know
Those were senseless wishes
Dropped for tears cried long ago

'Sold' I say, and instantly
My thoughts pretend to feel
Proving I'll be fine, that is
So long as I'm not real
