Divagation

Divagation

Love, do you remember
When beauty having been seen
Was imminent of creation,
And kindness known
As being our only touch?

With dreamy thoughts
Came sleepy smiles
Which gave anticipation
The incentive to give chase
As eager pursuit of leisured nights

When we knew real magic
Was never something
One should conjure up,
But rather write down
As words we always worked out
Would pass gracefully in-between the lines
Of Poetry’s stanzaic pages
And Emerald’s imaginative escapes

Our laughter was unavoidable then
As was our enthrallment
Both captivated by the mutual compliancy
Of our amicable intentions

How about when a lapse
Of common courtesy
Was merely as unintentional
As it was rare
And would often times instill deep
With an unnecessary sense of reckoning,
If only for the reconciliation of principal
Or perhaps even the preservation
In understanding appreciation

While talents or capabilities
Were truly irrelevant,
Though not so much as kept unseen
Within our artistic equality
But instead were overlooked
In seeing eye to eye

The idea of an idea
Of either being too grandiose
Or too insignificant in size
Was an idea we would simply scale
As being too inconceivable to even measure

Or perhaps you can recall
To when compassion felt
As being never shameful
Nor was caring ever undisclosed

And a secretive darkness
As confided in unadulterated trust
Had instead
Warranted such tenderness

For it is within these measures
Find twilights before
A contrived oblivion
Of the heart had occurred

When such consideration
Had yet to be conceived
As ever being considered
That You and Me should be perceived
The other way around.
