Emerald Combs

While speaking with my lonely moon
I felt a sleepy breeze
Steal my whispered honey thoughts
With drops of salted seas

When I caught a meter reader
Alternating time
That faltered every melody
My reason couldn't rhyme

Then I knew synthetic dreams
Had crept into my mind
Yet when I called for Baby Beans
My voice fell far behind

Suddenly I felt me shift
Away from time and space
And when I finally ventured in
My dreams were out of place

Once inside my Catacombs
I found Bi Jou Jou there
Informed him that our Beans was gone
But he said, ‘I don’t care'

I told him you are not my Muse,
Yet why do you deceive?
He said, ‘Don't be ridiculous’
Then told me I should leave

Bi Jou Jou's never secretive
Nor is he ever rude
So tell me where to find my Muse
Before I come unglued

Responding with a mordant laugh
That turned my mind to rage
Quickly found this charlatan
Inside my mental cage

When he tried to plead the fifth
I laughed, ‘Whatever, freak’
Then rhymed an ancient Emerald verse
So only truth could speak -

Your tongue was taught by verity
Before time counted ticks
So ferries only fabricate
Across the River Styx

Breathe and speak morality,
Respect all truthfulness
But deviate from honesty,
You'll see hell can regress

When I asked him where he thought
Bi Jou Jou might have gone
At first he looked a bit confused
But quickly he caught on

He realized if he bit his tongue
His words were formed as tears
And when he tried to close his eyes
His voice came out his ears

‘Einstein was the Pisces name
Your Muse went off to see
To talk about how time and space
Effects your Poetry’

I turned so he could not detect
That doubt had filled my eyes
For now I questioned if perhaps
The truth could carry lies

What's your name? I finally asked.
He said, ‘That’s up to you'
And even then I wasn't sure
If what he said was true

I think it was my orneriness
That asked him to recite
His favorite Poem I had wrote
He said that'd take all night

'So', I asked, 'you like my work?'
Intent to drive him mad
But stopped when heard Jou laugh and say,
‘Oh Polly you’re so bad’
