Not in your 'Wildest' Dreams

Not in your 'Wildest' Dreams

Capturing my busy mind at such an early age
I still cannot resist the charms of this Poetic sage
Oscar Wilde's my special friend my parents couldn't see
And they thought with counseling he'd keep away from me

'Nonsense of a silly child’, was what they called my friend
But Oscar said such ignorance finds optimism's end
'Worry not' he'd say to me 'what other people think
Don't you know society's in bad need of a shrink?'

So became our little joke,'Not in your 'Wildest' dreams'
This would always bring a laugh; still funny so it seems
No one else, we quickly learned, could ever understand
Yet we knew this wouldn't quell what Poetry had planned

Teaching me of life and art while mentoring his wit
But opening creative doors is not the half of it
'Look beyond creative doors, retrieve what you have hid;
Write it out,' he'd always say, and so I finally did

'I told you so' he says a lot, plus other stuff as well
But since we both are sort of vague there's nothing much to tell
'Oscar moments' I define as; 'Musing at its best'
And Oscar claims 'tis 'Anna time’, why I'm his favorite pest
